Podcast
I ever heard of podcast but never really knew what does it means. Well then, this class taught me that basically podcast is an audio or video file (mp3, mp4 etc) that is published or "broadcast" on the internet. The funny thing is I know what it is as I get engaged with the internet but the term itself I seldom used. During the lecture, I discover that it is used to promote self-study and independent learning which made it compatible material to be used with CALL.
So let's move to the advantage of using podcast. As a degree student, I would recommend using podcast for study because it is accessible as long as you have had good internet connection. Whenever and wherever you are, you still can gain knowledge and information. In addition, you possibly get extra information from what you have gotten in the class lecture, if and only if you make the effort to rely on super easy way in finding info.
Other than that, I think podcast can also be helpful for note taking. This is because sometimes during the class, lecturer tend to talk too fast or deliver info. in bulk and some of students might be lost. With the existence of podcast, it allows students to study independently with their own way. I believe that everyone has their own type of learning, with podcast it would be a jackpot for auditory learners.
However, there is also a drawback of this learning method, podcast is not suitable whine comes to explaining complex subjects that requires visual support in order to help student understands a particular topic. Thus, podcast is suitable for simple topics or subjects.
All I can say is podcast has been proven to be an effective tool of learning which needs to be used effectively. For those who wanted to enrich their vocabulary but not a fan of reading novels or books they may try podcast which can be found very easily from the internet.
Ahh, so this is my first ever published podcast. Feel free to listen! ❤
